The El Paso ChapterOn June 13, 2015, fourteen (14) ladies charted El Paso’s Chapter of the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. One of the organizations main objectives is focusing on youth and their development. As such, the Top Ladies of Distinction issued a call to the teens of El Paso for those who were civic minded and service oriented. On August 29, 2015, thirteen (13) Teens answered the call to be leaders in the city of El Paso and to be TOPS in service. The charter members of the El Paso Chapter of Top Teens of America were: Avery Bowden, Nylah Coleman, Malik Fateen, Maleiya Fontan, Tariq Fulford, Markeela Kendrick, Lauren Owens, Imani Pepen, Hadaiya White, Brandon Williams, Brianne Williams, Jade’ Williams and Zipporah Williams. The teens first year was a whirlwind of activity but as our motto states: “Participation is our foundation as leaders of tomorrow.” The teens began their season of service by participating in the following projects: NAMI walk, Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk, Sickle Cell Disease Awareness, Adoption of the Ambrosio Gullien Texas State Veterans Home, Keep America Beautiful: Texas Trash Off – Adopt a Highway, Volunteering at the Viet Nam Traveling Wall, March of Dimes – March for Babies and sponsored the first annual Walk Benefiting St. Jude’s. The season of personal development began by partnering with our mentors, The Top Ladies of Distinction, during our teen’s leadership training conference, followed by Dining Skills for Success and concluded with the Area 1 Conference in Dallas, Texas where 5 members represented the El Paso Chapter. In 2016, we continued to build the chapter, serving our community, and learning our organization. On Saturday June 11th, we inducted nine Teens. Teens Desiree Anderson, Savannah Araujo, Gavril Bone, Khalid Fulford, Olmec Neto, Jocelyn Paige, Maria Consuegra-Vasquez, Kyran Walls, and Taylor Wingo. On Saturday, December 3rd, we inducted six new Top Teens. Teens Roosevelt Alavardo, Valarie Nelson-Betts, Jayna Fegans, Shaliah Grajeda, Shelby Hamil, and Scottie Paige. 2017 served as a time of transition for the chapter. We bid a fond farewell to our Advisor, Lady LaShana Williams and Assistant Advisor Lady Stephanie Walton. We welcomed our new Advisor, Lady Sharonne Joy Jacobs and Service to Youth, Lady Gail Owens. With a renewed spirit, we were ready to take on 2018! On Saturday June 16, 2018, 10 Teens answered the call to be TOPS in service. Teens JahSaundra Barnett, Delina Burt, Thomasina Burt, Jaylin Gilley, Mical Jemison, Uzeah Neto, Donovan Pace, Isaiah Pace, Yohana Consuegra-Vasquez, and Kiandra White. We welcomed the adventures 2019 presented to us! On Saturday, March 29th, we inducted six outstanding Teens into the Chapter. Teens Brett Doyon, Kameelah Freeman, Na’ilah Fulford, Alay’Jah Jackson, Camryn Johnson, and Sergio Mendoza. In the Fall of 2019 we welccomed three amazing young ladies. Teens Lisa Carrasco, Savanna Enriquez, and Jaylen Vazquez. We have only just begun but there are many more pages in our book. |
